|FEMALE IN A NUTSHELL: Said to be sweet and friendly with dogs and people alike. We don't know about cats yet.|
|Our facebook angel, Kathy J, spotted this post on
November 13th and reached out to us: "We have a young, friendly, playful, happy white German shepherd who is available right now! Winter (#620903) was left in our night drop on the 1st along with two 10-month-old puppies who we presume were hers. Both puppies were already adopted out, but 3-year-old Winter is still looking for a rescue partner pull or a public adoption. |
Winter was dog-tested today with two different large dogs (a male and a female) and did well with both! One interaction video can be found just below.
When I spent time with Winter today, she was thrilled to have me throw her toy for her and play fetch. Winter is intact, thin at 58 pounds, and is a little itchy even after getting a bath here. She entered the shelter with fleas, ticks, and flystrike. Winter did not seem familiar with being bathed. Our volunteer dog walkers describe Winter as gentle, smart, sweet, and possibly housebroken. Please let me know if you are interested in her. Thank you!"
After Kathy reached out to the shelter, we were contacted by Karen R of Reno, Nevada, a networker and transport facilitator, who also asked us if we could help Winter and offered her assistance. With the offer of transport assistance, we knew we could get to Winter at this shelter (which is much farther than most of the shelters we deal with), and sent in our paperwork to be approved as a rescue partner to yet another California shelter.
UPDATE 11/19: Winter was taken by shelter personnel to an off-site adoption event today. Their notes indicate, "WINTER WAS REALLY GOOD WITH OTHER DOGS, GREAT WITH KIDS (BABIES TO TEENAGERS), WAS VERY CALM THE WHOLE TIME AND LET EVERYONE PET HER!"
As soon as our partner paperwork was processed and confirmed, we arranged to have Chuck and Jon from Husky Camp pick up Winter on Saturday (11/20), if she had not been adopted.
UPDATE 11/20: Winter has been picked up from the shelter by Chuck and Jon of Husky Camp!!
Adoption fee to be determined.
