Marsha, Marsha, Marsha!! We were definitely not looking to add any more dogs to our rescue after taking in Blanche and Buck, and agreeing to take Yuki, Richie and Mia, but our Facebook friend, Kathy J found Marsha at a shelter that was full, and she asked if we would consider her. She had passed her assessment at the shelter (Easy to walk and, in general, easy to handle. She was also "easy to touch and pet, affectionate." She was also noted as being "playful with dogs.")

Our thanks to Marsha, the Bakersfield rescue coordinator, for whom our newest rescue furkid has been named. Also to Rena, the transport coordinator.

Leaving the shelter with Shawnra ~ 1st transport leg
Marsha with Camie ~ 2nd transport leg

Arrival at Crossroads

Leg 1 Shawnra: "She’s a very good girl, does not pull on leash. She was attacked by an itty bitty Chihuahua on the way out of shelter but she was well behaved anyway. She was a little anxious in the car."

Leg 2 Camie: "She is very good. She got excited and jumped on me once. When I corrected her quietly, she stopped and didn't try again. She never pulled on the leash. She really liked Maya my 5 year old."

Leg 3 Cindi" "I am stuck in traffic now ... boy she is anxious to get out of the car; she's just tired of being in the car, which I don't blame her. I've been tossing treats back there for her. Marshmallow was really, really happy to get out of my car; she kept trying to claw into the front seat ... I had her leashed up good to back headrests. Wanted attention."

UPDATE 6/17: Marsha, Yuki, Richie and Mia were brought to Phoenix by two of our staff members. Their bios will be updated tomorrow with pictures. Please check back.

Pickup at Crossroads ~ Marsha was definitely Joe's favorite
Heading east to find forever
Arrival in Phoenix & introduction to Annie

Marsha comes from a shelter that did not even bother to check to see if she was spayed or not. So, first order of business is to get her to our vet to have her checked. She is up-to-date on vaccinations and microchipped and we will post news of her spay status shortly so please check back.

UPDATE 6/20: Marsha saw our vet today for her initial checkup. She was a little underweight at 55 pounds, but we're going to remedy that in no time. While waiting to be seen, Marsha shared her room with a 3 month old kitten. She looked interested and came up to sniff the tiny 4 pound feline, but when asked to "leave it," she did immediately and showed no further interest. She may be OK living with cats! All-in-all, Marsha was pronounced healthy, spayed (thankfully) and ready for adoption! She'd love to meet you.

Adoption fee $365.00.
