Shelter Intake Photo
|Even before the five dogs (Miley, Carlo, Tally, Olivia & Paloma) arrived on Saturday, our facebook angel, Kathy, emailed with a plea for this 1 year old boy. She knew we couldn't -- and she was right -- but she had to try.
With our fosters pitching in (thanks Kate, Wendy & Jim, Terri & Sarah) on Saturday, and Olivia's adoption on Monday, we checked back on Jack and found that his status had changed to "YELLOW" due to kennel stress, and he was even more in need.
Videos courtesy of our favorite transporter, Tera, who had been to the shelter to meet Jack. Once we saw them, we had to say yes, and Tera was at the shelter to pick him up within the hour.
On another facebook thread, we found some photos taken by Jo Jo Tabitha Bella:
UPDATE 10/21: Jack, now renamed Zack thanks to Cathleen at Crossroads, is safe and sound and waiting for the next transport to Phoenix. Thank you, Tera!!
According to Cathleen, "He seems sweet and young."
UPDATE 11/3: In a surprising turn of events, Zack was transported to Phoenix and placed into a temporary foster home to await neuter surgery. We were thrilled to meet this handsome youngster, who is brassy and bold and thinks the world is his oyster ... and he's probably right! Not a shy bone in this boy's body, that's for sure.
UPDATE 11/4: Zack saw our vet today and, after a thorough examination, was declared fit as a fiddle and ready for his neuter surgery, which has been scheduled.
UPDATE 11/12: Zack had his neuter surgery today and came thru with flying colors. He'll be in a cone for 2 weeks and is also on antibiotics as a precautionary measure. This boy hasn't missed a beat and has no clue that anything is "missing." He was up and about within hours of the surgery, and his foster mom is being very careful to make sure he recovers well before giving him his freedom again. He seems to be taking things in stride. We'll try and get some pics of him in his cone.
UPDATE 11/16: Zack definitely doesn't let the fact that he has an e-collar on prevent him from having a great time! He loves his rope toy and can entertain himself with it for hours.
Zack didn't let a little thing like rain stop him from having fun -- he went out
and played in the puddles, just like a kid!
UPDATE 11/29: We had Zack evaluated at Soldier's Best Friend this afternoon, and they LOVED him! He was exactly as "advertised" -- a "balls to the wall" puppy with no fears, hang-ups or hesitations at anything life may throw at him -- and they sure tried. He had a ball during the evaluation ~ he thought it was all a game that Sarah, the evaluator, and Allison, an SBF trainer, were playing with him. He never missed a beat, and his tail was wagging throughout the entire eval. He walked through obstacles, wiggled at the sound of metal food pans hitting the floor, bounded up a flight of stairs (we don't know that he'd ever seen stairs before), and took everything in stride.
SBF was eager to sign Zack up for training and later pairing with a veteran; however, ack of a trainer/foster over the holidays stopped them short. If Zack is not adopted by the time SBF has an opening, he will be signing up for service!
When he arrived back at his temporary foster home, Zack was introduced to Bianca, and the two took to the yard for some fun and games. He definitely has energy to burn!
UPDATE 12/13: Zack needed more socialization and exercise than he was receiving at his foster home, so we moved him over to Doggie District. We know he's going to be one tired boy at the end of each day, that's for sure.
Adoption fee $425.00.
