|Blanche was first spotted by our facebook friend, Kathy, in a high kill shelter in California. Her finder, Natalie, had turned her in with an injury to her back leg (which was treated and healing well) in hopes that her owner was looking and would find her at the shelter -- they weren't, and didn't. Another of our friends went to the shelter and took a very short video of Blanche.
UPDATE 5/27: Our newest rescue furkid was sprung today! We want to thank Rena for her transport setup from Tulare shelter to Crossroads in Rialto, and Kandi rescue coordinator.
According to her transporters, Blanche was very good in the vehicles on all legs of the transport. Didn't see her pulling on leash either.
Natalie: " She was great in the car, she really wanted to play before we left the shelter, she's Super Sweet Very Gentle taking the oranges from me."
Rochelle: "Great girl."
Cindi: "She is really a sweetheart, very calm, just lay down the whole time. Went to look out the window; just a really calm natured dog."
UPDATE 6/1: Blanche was transported to Phoenix this afternoon and has settled in with one of our staff members.
We want to thank all the wonderful folks who helped us out (unasked!) with donations for Blanche, Buck, Mia and Richie! You certainly made our jobs just a little bit easier, that's for sure! Blanche will be given some time to settle in, after which she will be spayed and updated on shots and microchipped if necessary. Please check back for updates.
UPDATE 6/20: Blanche was spayed and updated on shots today. The vet said she did very well with the surgery and should heal and be ready for adoption in no time. We will be scheduling introductions for Blanche the first weekend in July.
UPDATE 6/21: An email received this morning told us of the passing of one of our adoptees, MiBella (named Stella by her forever mom, Kim). Not wanting to go another minute without a white GSD in her home, Kim reached out and asked if she could help -- fostering, training, transporting ... she was willing to jump right in and help in any way she could. She ultimately would like to adopt another dog; however, with a vacation already planned for mid-July, Kim thought there must be something she could do between now and the middle of July, and we knew the very thing -- she could foster Blanche, who was just spayed yesterday! Kim didn't waste any time and picked up Blanche at the home of one of our staff members within hours (probably less).
We are very grateful to Kim for jumping right back in after her recent loss. We have no doubt that our Blanche is in the best of hands.
UPDATE 6/22: What we have learned very quickly is that Blanche is not happy being an "only child." She is absolutely bereft without her canine companions, and so foster mom Kim will be bringing her back to our staff member so that we can continue the search for her forever family (one that definitely includes another dog). Kim is definitely not giving up the idea of fostering and adopting another white GSD, though!
Adoption fee $375.00.
