|Baron is male coated (long hair) pure bred German Shepherd puppy. He will be one year old on March 11, 2017.
He is a very smart, strong willed and confident boy requiring an experienced leader. A home in which at least one adult is not away from home for more than 4 hours a day would be best; he's still too young to be left loose and would rather not be confined to a crate for excessive periods, storing energy...there's just too many exciting things to explore and learn for that.
Baron is very high energy with stronger than average drive..a teenager that would prefer to be busy all day. He loves to swim, can play fetch until you drop, wants to be and go with you everywhere, thus he must have an owner with ample time for him.
Without the supervision, walks, hikes, play and training time he needs along with lots of appropriate chew toys, he can become very destructive, although it's more of a game for him..grab & run & catch me if you can. He knows his basics, understands many commands and is a very quick study; put in the time and you can teach him anything. He can also open all levered doors and for a youngster, is very focused when training.
Baron is very friendly with both people and other dogs yet can be pushy in that he expects other dogs to play with him immediately and endlessly. This can become annoying to less energetic dogs; while he will be fine with another large breed female, we think it best that he be the only dog for his first 6 months in a new home so that all of the time and attention can be devoted to him.
Typically, the growth period from 9 to 15 months in a male GSD is the most challenging; a time when they are testing their independence and believe the entire universe revolves around them. Thankfully, as is the case with most teenagers, it passes and the fruits of your labor will be well rewarded.
He has been beautifully behaved out in public (PetSmart, parks, Boot camp, etc.) He's simply so happy to be out and about and spending time with his person. He has never demonstrated an ounce of aggression.
Darren is very curious, fearlessly loves to investigate and uses his nose to full advantage. He quite possibly could take to scent work and should excel in Dock Diving, among other pursuits. Anything involving water is fun for him.
While he does not enjoy being bored, he has learned to chill and lay quietly in the office allowing us to work.
Despite still being in the lanky stage, he is extremely athletic and fast, thus a yard for play with his human will keep him happy.
No couch potatoes, small dogs, multiple-dog homes or cats. Kids 12 or over are recommended. Baron is not the best fit for a first time dog or GSD owner.
He is crate and house trained, will relieve himself on command, neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped.
This intelligent active dude would love to meet you.
